What are scroll ads?

The advertising space on mobile pages or apps is quite limited compared to the desktop version of the page or app due to the smaller display of the device. If you want to display a viewable ad, you either take up the largest part of the screen or you overlap the complete screen (interstitial). Both solutions are quite invasive and have a negative impact on the usability of the page or app. This is where the scroll ads come into play. The functionality is quite straightforward: for an uninterrupted reading flow, the user scrolls the page from the bottom to the top. In the bottom part of the screen, a "scroll ad" will appear, ideally placed on an image (in-image ad). As soon as the image reaches the lower third or half of the screen, the ad disappears with an effect (flip, zoom, swipe, disappear) and the original content is uncovered. Consequently, there is an uninterrupted reading flow and the ad is not perceived as invasive.
